About NIPMO
National Intellectual Property Management Office (NIPMO) is the implementing office of the Intellectual Property Rights from Publicly Financed Research & Development Act (IPR Act) in South Africa.
Our Mission
NIPMO was established to ensure that intellectual property arising from publicly funded research and development is identified, protected, utilized, and commercialized for the benefit of South Africa.
Key Functions
- Implementing and monitoring compliance with the IPR Act
- Supporting technology transfer offices at research institutions
- Providing capacity building and training in IP management
- Facilitating the commercialization of research outputs
- Safeguarding national interests in intellectual property
